Introduction- I am an assistant
professor of Communications at Wilberforce University in Ohio, USA. During
the last five years I have been working on the practical and theoretical
aspects of a research doctorate. Besides the 200-page thesis (78,000
words), I have developed several web-based supplemental materials to
assist in the research and development process.
Online course for the elderly- One
of the research-related components was the development of an online course
that was designed to be
an easy-to-use tool for the elderly to learn about basic Internet skills. Developing this model has
provided me with the incentive to research several related
topics such as designing usable sites for the elderly, establishing the credibility
of an individual site, communicating health and medical information, etc. A detailed explanation of
this practice-based
project is provided in the dissertation. Click here
Inventory of experimental sites-
Here are descriptions and displays of several Internet sites that I
experimented with to help develop my Web design skills and to expand the
ability of my thesis to communicate with the elderly subject group. Click
